March vote likely on $49.5M Midd sewer plant upgrade
Dec 5, 2024 · All signs point to Middlebury residents voting on a proposed $49.5 million makeover of their town’s wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) this coming March. It’s an outlay that would improve the plant’s ability to process biosolids (sludge), as well as pay for several age-related upgrades to the 24-year-old facility.

United Way ups its 2024 fundraising goal - Addison Independent
Oct 3, 2024 · UWAC late last month launched a 2024 campaign to raise $750,000 for charitable causes in our area. That’s $50,000 more than last year’s fund drive, which ended up netting an impressive $859,941. So officials are pleased to be able to boost this year’s goal, which had plateaued at $700,000 in recent years.
Bristol resident in hospital after apparent accidental shooting
Nov 27, 2024 · BRISTOL — A Bristol resident has been hospitalized after what police believe was an accidental shooting in town early Wednesday morning. Bristol Chief of Police Bruce Nason told the Independent that police received a 911 call at 12:56 a.m. on Nov. 27 for a report of a person who had shot themself.The incident occurred at an apartment building on Adirondack View.
UVM Health Network announces widespread service cuts
Nov 15, 2024 · Porter Medical Center appears to have emerged relatively unscathed from Thursday’s announced cuts. “There are no layoffs or reduction in services at Porter as the result of the Green Mountain Care Board actions that were discussed this morning,” Bob Ortmyer, president of both Porter and Elizabethtown Community Hospital in New York, said through an email exchange Thursday afternoon.
New dental office to open in Middlebury - Addison Independent
