Stellantis and the UAW are fighting over the union's threats of a potential national strike over product commitments.

The automaker is suing the UAW and 24 of its local chapters around the U.S., saying a strike would amount to a breach of contract.

After Stellantis filed its initial lawsuit against the UAW, the automaker filed eight more lawsuits against the UAW and 23 local unions.

Stellantis NV said Monday it filed nine federal lawsuits against the United Auto Workers and two dozen union locals late last week it tries to prevent the union from calling a mid-contract strike over its delays reopening an Illinois assembly plant.
