Cynt Marshall is retiring as CEO of the Dallas Mavericks at the end of this year, and then will stay on for another year as a consultant in the organization. Marshall joined the team in 2018 and is credited with overhauling the workplace.

Hired in 2018 amid a sexual harassment scandal, Marshall is credited with transforming the organization’s culture into one of inclusion.

Marshall became the NBA's first Black female CEO when then-Mavs-majority owner Mark Cuban hired her in 2018. During her tenure, she helped the organization emerge from sexual misconduct and harassment controversies with the hiring of other female team executives and a focus on diversity and inclusion—along with female-focused programs like Girls Empowered by Mavericks (GEM).
