Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to prepare disaster relief resources as temperatures across the state continue to fall below freezing, according to a Monday news release.

Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to activate state emergency response resources ahead of severe winter weather expected to impact the state this week.

Temperatures across the Houston area dipped into the mid 30s again overnight Monday. A cold weather advisory will stay in effect across the area until 9 a.m. Tuesday, and another could be issued Tuesday into early Wednesday.
