Gatwick Airport has said operations are "returning to normal" after four days of fog-related flight restrictions. Temporary air traffic restrictions that were in place over the weekend have been lifted after the weather improved.

Flights to everywhere from Belfast and Tenerife to Kraków, Poland, and Accra, Ghana, have been delayed by as much as an hour and a half this morning. Live arrivals boards also show slight delays to incoming flights. According to the monitoring website FlightStats, the delays are ‘excessive and increasing’.

Between Boxing Day and Sunday, of the 29 flights to Gatwick, 10 were cancelled and many of the rest of the flights were heavily delayed due to fog at Guernsey and later around Gatwick, which was particularly badly affected on Sunday.
