CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Sometimes Emmanuel Clase has to be bad just so the rest of the human race can realize how good he is. Manager Stephen Vogt brought Clase into Game 2 of the American League Championship Series on Monday in the eighth inning with two out and no score. Clase was on to get four outs for just the second time this season.

Clase hadn't allowed a home run, or even a run, since August until Kerry Carpenter hit a homer off him Monday in Game 2 of the AL Division Series.

It was a record-scratch moment. Kerry Carpenter's three-run homer off Clase in ninth was quite a jolt, setting up two big games in Detroit.
